The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in a bid to boost human resources development in the Niger Delta Region has announced the 2025 foreign postgraduate scholarship programme to equip the indigenous people with relevant skills and trainings to enable them to effectively participate in the local content of the Federal Government as well as enable specialization in their fields of study.
The scheme cuts across suitably qualified candidates with relevant bachelor’s degree in recognized institutions in disciplines such as:
- Agricultural Science
- Engineering
- Environmental Science
- Geosciences
- Medical Sciences
- Law and
- Architecture
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the NDDC postgraduate scholarship, applicants must be indigenous to the Niger Delta region and have achieved a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division and not more than 40 years of age as at the time of the application.
How to Apply for the 2025 NDDC Scholarship
All qualified applicants are required to submit their application online through the official website of the commission. Supporting documents to follow the online application include:
- Recent passport photograph
- Letter of identification from your local government
- Letter of postgraduate admission from a recognized international university
- Relevant degrees from recognized universities
- NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
When the application has been successfully completed, a registration number will be assigned to the applicant automatically. It is advisable to print out a copy of the online generated acknowledgement for future references.
All shortlisted candidates will be announced and posted on the official NDDC website. The shortlisted candidates will be required to partake in a Computer Based Test (CBT)
The Selection Process
Phase 1
Online Application: All aspirants are to submit an online application via the commission’s official website
Phase 2
Preliminary Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on the following criteria: WASSCE/NECO results, undergraduate degree classification (Minimum of 2:2), Local Government Identification.
Phase 3
Computer Based Test (CBT): Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo a Computer Based Test conducted by consultants of the commission in Rivers State. Candidates are expected to achieve a minimum of 70% grade to proceed to the next stage.
Phase 4
Second Shortlisting: Candidates who successfully scale through the CBT stage will be further shortlisted for the final stage.
Phase 5
Final Verification: The final verification of candidates will be done through Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Community Development Committee (CDC)

Application Window:
Application for the NDDC postgraduate scholarship is currently ongoing and will be on till the 20th of April 2025.
It is important to note that the financial allocation for the foreign scholarship shall be based on the prevailing exchange rate of the Naira. Deferment, change of institution and courses are not permitted.
Beware of scams and protect yourself! The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) will not initiate communication with applicants except those who qualify for the Computer Based Test (CBT) and subsequent phases of the application.
Preferences will be given to applicants of oil producing host/communities/local government areas provided candidates meet the approved requirements.
